K-1-2, 3-4-5, 6-7-8 (Jackpot)

A.        TIME LIMIT: Thirty (30) Seconds.

A barrier/score line will be used. A ten-second penalty shall be assessed for breaking the barrier. 

B.    Contestant has option for a Hazer (adult or IJRA member 6th grade or older).

C.    The header will start from the left-hand box facing the arena.  Hazer must start from right hand box. 

D.    Steer belongs to Contestant after the flag leaves the steer.

E.    The contestant's time will begin when the flag leaves the calf

F.     Contestant carries only one (1) rope, with a breakaway hondo. After catching the steer, contestant should dally to horn. Time stops when hondo breaks away and judge drops flag.

G.    Steer must not be handled roughly at any time, or Contestant may be disqualified if, in the opinion of the field Judge, they have intentionally done so.

H.    Broken rope or dropped rope will be considered a "No Time".

I.      Legal Catches:

1.    Three (3) Legal Head Catches:

a)  Around Both Horns

b)  Half A Head

c)  Around The Neck

2.     If honda passes over horn, the loop over the other is illegal.

3.     If loop crosses itself in head catch, it is illegal. 

J.     Judge should approve head loops.

K.    Entry fee to be $17.  Of this fee, $2.00 will be applied to the jackpot. This is a jackpot event, and will not count as points. 

L.     Contestant has the option to push calf, but must provide pusher.

M.     Contestant is limited to one (1) entry per rodeo.

N.   Contestants who compete in Steer Stopping Jackpot are ineligible to compete in Team Roping Heading at the same rodeo.  (Steer Stopping Jackpot is designed to be an introductory step into team roping.)

O.    The steer may not be roped in either roping box. Roping the steer while it is in either of the two boxes will results in a no time
