STEER DAUBING K-1-2
(Judge may not haze.)
A. TIME LIMIT: Thirty (30) Seconds.
A barrier/score line will be used. A ten-second penalty shall be assessed for breaking the barrier. If the steer is daubed before the barrier is released, the contestant will then be disqualified and receive a no time.
B. PROPERTIES:
1. Stick with which to "Daub" steer.
2. Powder or whitewash for marking.
C. Stick must stay in Contestant's hand in order for time to count.
D. Steer will be released from chute when Contestant gives a nod.
E. Contestant must come from left hand roping box.
F. Contestant will chase steer and "daub" steer with end of stick.
G. Time will stop when Judge drops flag.
H. Contestant may choose stick length (long or short), and must hit steer. There is no designated hit area in K-1-2 age group, and use of a hazer is optional (must be an adult or IJRA member 6th grade or older).
I. Contestant is allowed one swing with the stick. When arm comes down, time will stop. Judge is to check target to confirm hit.
J. A closed gate will be used.
K. A “time line” approximately ¾ way down arena will be used in this event. Contestants must daub the steer before this “time line” in order to receive a score/time.

F. Contestant will chase steer and touch steer with end of daubing' stick.
G. Target will be placed on the hip for Contestant to hit in front of the line. A hit will be considered qualified if ANY part of the mark is in front of the line.
H. Time will stop when Judge drops flag.
I. Contestant will get one hit at steer. When arm comes down, time will stop. Judge is to check target to confirm legal hit.
J. Contestant's stick will be 12" in length. Contestant will get one hit at steer; when arm comes down, time will stop. Contestant has option for a Hazer (adult or IJRA member 6th grader or older).
