
A.
TIME LIMIT: Sixty (60) Seconds
A barrier/score line will be used. A ten-second penalty shall be assessed for breaking the barrier.
B. Contestant must come from right hand box facing arena. Neck rope will be used.
C. Catch as catch can-not just over the head.
D.
Two (2) loops will be permitted.
1.
If
Contestant intends to use two loops, he/she must carry two ropes.
2.
No
recoiling.
3. Should Contestant miss with both loops, he/she must retire, and a score of "No Time" shall her
recorded.
E.
Contestant dismounts, and runs down the rope toward the calf.
Contestant throws the calf by hand, then crosses and ties three (3) feet
together.
1. If calf is down, it must be brought to its feet, then thrown.
2.
A pigging string or rope may be used to tie.
No other type of material will be permitted.
3.
Calves cannot be dropped to render them breathless and immobile.
4.
Unusual roughness in handling the calf will disqualify Contestant.
5. Contestant may carry two (2) pigging' strings. If first string is rendered useless, Contestant may use second string to finish tie within the allotted time.
F. When tie is complete, Contestant signals time by throwing both hands in the air. After throwing hands in the air, contestant must immediately lose contact with the calf. Intentional failure to lose contact will result in a 10-second penalty –at the judge’s discretion.
G.
Tie must hold for six (6) seconds after Contestant puts slack in
the rope. Officials must remain a
reasonable distance away from calf until time is up.
Judge may use a stopwatch.
1.
Contestant cannot touch tie or calf after once signaling a complete tie.
2.
If the tie comes loose or if the calf gets to its feet before time has
been ruled fair, Contestant will receive a "No Time".
3. Calf must not be released until Judge indicates that tie is good.
H.
Contestant has the option to push calf out of chute, but also must
provide his/her own pusher.
I. Jerk line is optional.
G. When rope touches the ground, it is considered a "dead rope", and cannot be used.
K. The calf must not be handled roughly at any time. If, in the opinion of the field Judge, the contestant has intentionally done so, they may be disqualified.
L. The calf may not be roped in either roping box. Roping the calf while it is in either of the two boxes will results in a no time
M. If the calf becomes free of the rope after the contestant has dismounted, the contestant may take three(3) steps toward the calf in an attempt to touch the calf. If the contestant takes more than three steps to reach the calf, he will received a no time. Other wise, it the contestant is carrying an unused second loop, he/she may remount and attempt to rope the calf again.
